Chordee a point of light in a regular ceiling light, I need help?

Here is my situation .... maybe you can help, I know the answer, but I want to be absolutely certain. What Im trying to do: Connect a basic spot light has a white, black ground wire to the roof of my light, so to work together off the same switch.
