How do I replace a lamp in 1950 with a ceiling fan?
Just moved to a house built in 1952. All light fixtures in the house are 12 "Square Recessed lights placed in the center of the room, providing a minimal amount of light in each room, at best. I decided change the lights with ceiling fans, however, I found a bit of a problem. There are only two wires coming from the lamp, and both are wrapped in a cloth black. In the old appliance, the two wires formed around hooks screws holding the lamp bulb in place. None of these parties to any ceiling fan I've seen. What should I do?
The correct answer would be long and complicated and can lead to confusion for not knowing all the conditions in your home. Recommend a licensed electrician.
