How do you know * * What size bulb to use in a light fixture?

I live in a rented house with a lot various ceiling fixtures and a lot of different sized light bulbs need replacing - It's getting dark in here! Some are spiders lights and ceiling fans with small candles, such as light bulbs. I also have two light bulbs in traditional light bulbs in them. * How KNOWING ACCURACY * what "size" bulbs to use for each device - that is, what power? About 40 or 60W candle bulbs or 60, 75, or 100 W bulbs? I love best, brightest light possible (for good pictures of Christmas!) Perhaps, even if it costs more - but I want safe and fire resistant. Also, the fancy new energy efficient light bulbs and environmentally sound manner, are not available for these small and ceiling fans chandeliers candle flame, Huh??? Thanks in advance! And I welcome further suggestions in this area.

Under the balloon or somewhere in the lamp is a piece of role that the rating of the bulb that will tell you what power you do not overdo it. It is the UL rating. Candle bulbs also have a different thread size. To be a light bulb with you and party, but the power to check the label for proper voltage.
