Outdoor Flush Fixture
I have to install an outdoor fixture in the side of my garage, but I do not understand the instructions. Keep reading.
Here is the link to instructions: Http://www.quoizel.com/instructionsheets/IS-835.pdf My question is this .... I have vinyl siding on the outside of my garage. I guess I have to put a box of old work there to mount the bracket. I do not understand how to make this flush against the wood. Also, I have to cut the site to work installl the old box? Step by step instructions will earn 10 points! HELP!
First, you have to use "an old sewing box" we will call a box of octagonal, and enter the siding (vinyl siding behind), but mounted inside the garage, not outside. The work will be done from within. Only three holes were drilled in the siding ... one focusing on the wiring, and two small horizontal holes for the mounting bolts of the project. There are two ways to mount the device against the wood. One is to place the device against irregular coating at a height that has the back rest so that apparatus is vertical, not leaning in or out of the wall. Two, is to buy a vinyl mounting block of an Homecenter about $ 6 and it is hoped that, as the results. Not a perfect solution, but may be feasible. I recently the same installation. You will need to do the following. Buy a vinyl mounting block, an octagon box, and more screws to mount the lite. Determine the exact location of the lite. Access from inside the garage to the rear of the exterior wall to connect the cables and attach the picture. Drill holes in the coating (one for each mounting screw (2) and a hole for the cables. in the center about 1 "diameter. Does drywall if so, determine approximately where the lite is well cut and of a reasonable size squares to work within the wall cavity. They make huge (pin to pin, and about 12-16 "high. Store Part. No need to make the project more difficult to make a small hole. And reinstall the piece of cut is easier to deal with limited access. This also allow you to see that there is nothing in the way of the box, and wiring. To clear up the vinyl siding with a montage of categories. First, determine liner size you have. Measure vertically from pt to pt in the coating. Chances are you have 3, 4, or 8 inches. Go to a Homecenter and ask for a coating vinyl mounting block of an outer lite. Be flat in the front of the lamp to rest, and serrated at the back to match the profile of wood. I know they have 4 "and comes in different colors. Its about $ 6 (If you do not have your size, I can only suggest to make one of wood.) Then you need octagon box (for mounting accessories lite) Place the mounting block vinyl, if used, or just the lite device on the outside wall, where the lite will go. This allows you to determine the location (height) of the case of an octagon. to be installed inside the garage. Mark the location and drill a hole (1 ") in the center of the location of the lite is mounted on the wall. This is the hole you put through the cables. Now, take the strap mounting hardware that comes with the lite and tighten the screws to the box and adjust the belt (broken) to the horizontal postiion. Squeeze! The holes in this strip is where you put screws in the Lamp Lite support. (The screws that come with the device are too short .... have to replace them with longer screws (I think 2 "or 2 1 / 2" will do that ... you can get them in Homecenter) Now, from inside the garage, put the box in which to go, align the center of the box with the "1" drilled hole, and mark the places where two fixing screws go. 2-hole drilling of these (1 / 4 "will do) You should now know the exact location of the box set. From the inside the garage, put the box where it will go, and now the brand, inside the garage, octagon box anchor tight against the outer casing. To anchor the box: cut wood PC to move from one bolt to the other in the opening. Next, determine if the box should be located in the PC of wood, mount the wood box (2x4) and fasten the securely nailed to the wooden box on the left and right. Installing cables to the box, and fish through the wires on the outside. You should now have a box mounted on a secure with wire and two mounting bolts protruding from the outside. Hook-up wires and install accessories using nuts bolts. Keep this in mind, you are installing something is covered on the outside of access (no) and basically the same inside, so that each step gives less and less access to cables, and mounting the lamp. As So plan ahead.
